On Friday 26 August, join Nerang Mall as we stand in solidarity with the youth LGBTIQA+ community by wearing purple for Wear It Purple Day.

What is Wear It Purple Day?

Wear It Purple is a student-led, not-for-profit organisation that strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environments for youth in the LGBTIQA+ community. The initiative was established in 2010 in response to the distressing reports of young LGBTIQA+ people taking their own lives due to bullying and harassment. Wear It Purple aims to show people that no one should be discriminated against because of their gender and sexual identity.

Still Me, Still Human

This year’s theme is ‘Still Me, Still Human’—a message that emphasises the importance of remembering what we truly are, human. The LGBTIQA+ community form the fabric of our community—including our retail staff, our hospitality workers, our centre management, and our local customers. ‘Still Me, Still Human’ serves to remind all of us that the world is changing to embrace everyone, no matter how they identify, while seeking to remove the stigmas surrounding the LGBTIQA+ community.
